沙特电力公司(SEC) 已经签署了本国内从利雅得，吉达，到卡西姆等地的8个变电站合同，总价值达到八亿五千零六十万美元。

SEC的首席执行官Ali bin SalehAl-Barrak表示，SEC将提升电力服务水平，提供稳定和不间断的电力使用。从而帮助国家满足日益增长的电力需求，这些新的电力项目同时促进沙特的经济发展。

根据沙特电力公司的记录，沙特的耗电量从二十世纪八十年代的1,940.72千瓦，持续增长到目前每小时8,022,45千瓦。

沙特能源效率中心的总干事Naif Al-Abadi认为，这样的耗电量是非常令人担忧的。

SEC signs $850.6m worth of substation contracts

Saudi ElectricityCompany (SEC) has signed eight contracts worth a total of $850.6m (SAR 3.2bn) for theconstruction of substations across Saudi Arabia.

CEO Ali bin SalehAl-Barrak inked the deals which are designed to help meet rising power demandacross the country.

“The projects willraise the level of electrical services provided by SEC and increase itsreliability by providing stable and uninterrupted usage,” Al-Barrak toldArabNews.

Substations will beconstructed in Riyadh,Jeddah, and Qassim to meet power demands in these areas as a result of thecontracts.

The construction ofthe projects is expected to be completed in one year and three months’ time.

Al-Barrak promisedthat the new projects will greatly help in the economic development of theKingdom.

According to SECrecords, power consumption in Saudi  Arabia has increased from 1,940.72 kilo wattper hours (kWh) in the 1980s to a current level of 8,022.45 kWh.

Naif Al-Abadi,director general of the Saudi Energy Efficiency Center (SEEC), said earlierthis year that there is an “alarmingly high rate of energy consumption in Saudi Arabia.”
